A Whole New Blog

So . . . my friend/fan/fellow writer Rachel has prodded me into facing the truth: I’ve become a horrible blogger.  I haven’t posted anything new in days weeks months.  And the last few posts were cribbed from my other blog where I still post regularly because my partner (who does 80 percent of the writing anyway) knows that the best way to get me to feel guilty is to be really nice and patient and understanding.

Anyway, Rachel has shown me I need a new attitude toward this whole blogging thing.  I’ve been too focused on making a statement, too essay-ish.  It’s my magazine background: I feel like every post has to have a whole thesis with a beginning, middle and end.

But that’s outdated!  I need to get with the times.  (And I realize that simply saying”get with the times” dates me horribly.)  From now on, I’m not going to be an essayist.  I’m going to be a BLOGGER: someone who drops by her blog to post a few lines here and there.  I just saw that my idol Robin Hobb (LOVE her!) has a blog where most entries are probably less than two hundred words.  I could do worse than emulate someone who sells as many (wonderful) books as Hobb.

So here’s to a whole new me.  And stay posted: I’m going to be telling you all about my new novel If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home Now, which is already available for pre-order from Amazon (but won’t actually be released until early September).  I’m also finishing up a YA novel that will be out the following summer–

But I’m over 200 words!  The new, improved, SUCCINCT Claire is going to stop now.  Oh, but first a photo (new, improved Claire has photos).

So . . . what do you think?  Shorter and more frequent posts?  Is this the way to go?  Your input, as always, is invaluable.
